Mit unglaublicher Verspätung laden wir – auf vielfachen Wunsch – doch noch einen kurzen Reisebericht und Bilder zu unserer knapp 6-monatigen Reise durch Nordamerika hoch.
Nachdem wir recht lange in Halifax, Nova Scotia auf unseren T-Rex gewartet haben, gings zügig Richtung Neufundland und Labrador. Die beeindruckende Landschaft erinnert stark an Skandinavien, insbesondere an die norwegische Küste ganz im Norden. Allerdings sind Neufundland und insbesondere Labrador nur sehr schwach besiedelt. In Labrador befindet sich beim Dorfausgang häufig ein Schild, auf dem hingewiesen wird, wie weit die nächste Tankstelle entfernt ist; das können schon einmal über 400km sein.
In Neufundland und Labrador war das Wetter nicht immer ideal zum Campen. Wegen Regen, Wind, Kälte und teilweise dichtem Nebel verweilten wir nicht längere Zeit in dieser Gegend und machten uns auf den Weg Richtung Westen. Die Distanzen in Kanada sind enorm. Die Grösse dieses Landes ist für uns Schweizer sehr beeindruckend.
Die lange Reise von Osten nach Westen führte uns durch die nördlichen Gebiete von Kanada. Viel Wildnis, viel Wald, viele Seen und wirklich viele Bären, das ist Kanada (von den vielen Mücken sprechen wir jetzt nicht). Die Provinzen Nordwest Territories und Yukon waren für uns die grossen Highlights in Kanada.

With unbelievable delay we upload – by popular request – a short travelogue and pictures of our almost 6-month trip through North America.
After waiting quite a long time in Halifax, Nova Scotia for our T-Rex, we quickly headed towards Newfoundland and Labrador. The impressive landscape strongly reminds of Scandinavia, especially the Norwegian coast in the very north. However, Newfoundland and especially Labrador are very sparsely populated. In Labrador, there is often a sign at the end of a village that tells you how far the next gas station is; it can be over 400km.
In Newfoundland and Labrador the weather was not always ideal for camping. Because of rain, wind, cold and partly dense fog we did not stay longer in this area and headed west. The distances in Canada are enormous. The size of this country is very impressive for us Swiss.
The long journey from east to west led us through the northern areas of Canada. A lot of wilderness, a lot of forest, a lot of lakes and really a lot of bears, that is Canada (we are not talking about the many mosquitoes now). The provinces Northwest Territories and Yukon were for us the big highlights in Canada.
